How do I upgrade SISfm?

SISfm release files are available using a location and credentials supplied to nominated SISfm administrators in each SISfm full release announcement email.

SISfm is released as:

• Full releases - for example, SISfm 1.2.0

  To upgrade to a new full release:

  1. Download its MSI installer files:
     • IFM-SISfm.V1.2.0.msi - the full release of the SISfm web application
     • IFM-SISfm-Admin.V1.2.0.msi - the full release of the SISfm Administrator desktop application (Map Compiler, Way Finder, etc)
  2. IMPORTANT - Make a copy of your current web application, Map Compiler and Way Finder configuration files.
  3. Use IIS Manager to record the Site (e.g. Default Web Site), Virtual directory (e.g. SISfm) and Application Pool (e.g. DefaultAppPool) of the currently installed SISfm web application.
  4. Use the Control Panel to deinstall your current SISfm and SISfm Administrator.
  5. Run the above files to install your new SISfm and SISfm Administrator, for the web application quoting the same Site, Virtual directory and Application Pool as recorded above.
  6. Reinstate your web application, Map Compiler and Way Finder configuration files (we recommend you keep the supplied ones by renaming them).
• Point releases - for example, SISfm 1.2.3

  Subsequent to each full release we may issue point releases, numbered 1.2.1, 1.2.2, etc, which include bug fixes and sometimes enhancements for specific customers that will be documented in the next full release. Bug fix details are available upon request.

  Point releases are issued as ZIP files containing files to be replaced in, or sometimes added to, the corresponding SISfm installation. The changes they contain are cumulative: for example, to upgrade to 1.2.3 it is only necessary to apply that ZIP file and not those for preceding point releases such as 1.2.1 and 1.2.2.

  To upgrade to a new point release:

  1. Download its ZIP file(s) according to their availability at this point release:
     • IFM-SISfm.V1.2.3.Upgrade.zip - the point release for the SISfm web application
     • IFM-SISfm-Admin.V1.2.3.Upgrade.zip - the point release for the SISfm Administrator desktop application
  2. Using File Explorer, for each ZIP file:
     1. Navigate to the product installation folder, and copy its path to the clipboard. For example, the path might be:
        • C:\inetpub\wwwroot\SISfm for the SISfm web application
        • C:\Program Files\IFM\SISfm for the SISfm Administrator desktop application
     2. Navigate to the folder into which the ZIP file has been downloaded, right-click on this, select Extract All..., paste the path, press Extract, and accept all prompts to merge folders and replace files.
