You can install SISfm on your own machine if it is running Windows 7 SP1 or later, and has .NET Framework 4.8 installed. This allows you to investigate SISfm features that are not configured on your organisation's servers, using the test data supplied with SISfm.
Note that you not need a LicenceCode to use SISfm with a localhost URL.
To install SISfm, the IIS web server must be installed. If your machine's File Explorer shows that it has the folder C:\inetpub\wwwroot, IIS is probably already installed, otherwise it can be installed as follows:
Refer to the latest SISfm release announcement email (sent to SISfm administrators in your organisation) which includes instructions for downloading the SISfm version n.m web application as the file IFM-SISfm.Vn.m.0.msi.
Note that you can also download and install the SISfm Administrator desktop application, which includes the Map Compiler and Way Finder utilities, but these utilities cannot be used unless you also have the Cadcorp SIS application installed with a suitable ActiveX licence.
Launch the downloaded file IFM-SISfm.Vn.m.0.msi to install SISfm. Accept the default Site (Default Web Site), Virtual directory (SISfm) and Application Pool (DefaultAppPool).
Note that if installation fails due to insufficient privileges, you may be able to install it by running a Command Prompt window as administrator, then running the MSI file in this.
After installation, File Explorer will shows the folder C:\inetpub\wwwroot\SISfm which contains the installed SISfm files,
In the address field of a web browser on the same machine, enter localhost/SISfm to display the default SISfm home page, which includes an icon for each SISfm module.
The first time a module is selected, the default login page is displayed. To login enter username david and no password.
The configuration supplied with SISfm is the files web.config (ASP.NET settings), and app.config and shared.config (SISfm settings). The latter can be viewed and modified using the config.aspx page (or the Configuration section of the Administrator module).
The custom folder supplied with SISfm is the folder default containing global and module-specific files. This folder is a template for creating a specific custom folder (specified by the CustomFolder setting) in which custom files can be modified.
The test data supplied with SISfm is the folder test.
